Snuff In The US |
|
Nasal snuff eventually made it’s way to the States where the founding fathers embraced it. As a matter of fact, some of them produced their own flavors in their own mills. In the mid 1800’s though, there were two different types of snuff; nasal snuff and dipping snuff. Nasal snuff was primarily used in the Northern states while Dry Dipping snuff was used in the South. Dipping snuff was pretty much the same as nasal snuff but while nasal snuff was sniffed thru the nose, dipping snuff was rubbed on the gums and was the forefather of the modern moist smokeless tobacco used today. While the late 1940’s saw a huge decline in nasal snuff’s use, today it’s seeing a revival of popularity due to the current smoking bans with the old companies like Wilsons of Sharrow and Poschl’s leading the way, just like in the old days but, a new generation of snuff manufacturers are beginning to emerge and leading the charge is Toque Snuff! |
